Running Review: Swissotel Vertical Marathon 2013
This is my first time participating in the Swissotel Vertical Marathon. Overall it was a great experience. There was a pretty emcee hyping up the mood, and many enouraging supporters and volunteers along the way.
When: 24 Nov 2013
Where: Swissôtel The Stamford
Cost: $50 (early bird) with 10% discount for DBS/POSB card holders
Website: http://www.swissotelverticalmarathon.com/
On the race pack collection day:
It was easy to find - located in Swissotel itself. Signs were available and volunteers were there to guide. Queue wasn't long, so I didn't wait long before my turn. The only disappointment was that they no longer gave shoe bag as their goodie bag. This time it was a draw string bag. Well, at least the quality was good.
Inside the race pack:
- Bid number
- T-shirt
- Milo packs
- other sponsors' goodies
On the race day:
Pretty emcee Kelly Latimer was hyping up the mood. The sponsored drink was Aquarius which tasted quite nice. There was also a Milo truck. yay!
Climbing up the hotel was pretty tiring. Lack of oxygen was the main challenge. Fortunately, you can go out to the corridors of the hotel if you need more oxygen and some space to rest. There are also many young volunteers out there offering encouragements and support. :)
So after climbing up 73 storeys, finally you get to the top with a nice view, and a medal waiting for you. It was fantastic. Might sign up again this year :D
