Virgin Active Gym Holland Village Review

Image
With this covid situation stabilizing and wanting to exercise, I went to try out at the Virgin Active Gym in Holland Village.  The Holland Village gym was surprisingly small, because they are smaller than the Fitness First gyms I used to go. There are 2 steppers, 4 track mills, and there are weight machines which you can train your muscles.  They provided gym attires (T-shirt and shorts which are smaller than average)  and socks (which are really comfortable) too. They also have rain shower in their shower room. Disinfectant liquid are placed near gym equipment to allow gym users to wipe down the equipment after use. Hand sanitizers are also available.  As usual, the classes are full and really difficult to book. What I like about it - it provides gym attire - enough lockers - clean shower facilities with rain showers (soap and shampoo available), hair dryer and deodorant for your use  - Disinfectant and hand sanitizer available What I dislike - the gym is...

1Gravity Review - Tanjong Pagar & Chinatown Point

Image
I bought a Fave deal from fave.com for hair rebond Source:  https://myfave.com/singapore/partners/1gravity  $49 seems a good deal!  So I made an appointment and went to the Tanjong pagar branch - located conveniently in Guoco Tower. It is really convenient, you just walk out from the MRT and find it at #B1-16 The lady who helped me was Belle. She did a great job rebonding my hair with the Bioma Straightening hair treatment but she kept nagging and psycho-ing me to buy a package from her. Really hard sell. I did because I know I need to do regular rebonding. I used it for a few times and finally had a session left. And recently I made an appointment at the Chinatown branch for a change.  The lady serving me was Jess. She said Bioma treatment has lots of chemicals and she recommended the K-Gloss S4 treatment. She kept on raving how good it is, blah blah blah. So ok Bioma rebonding is bad for me, I will try the K-Gloss S4 treatment.  After the treatment, my ha...

Le Shrimp Ramen Review: Buona Vista Star Vista Branch

Image
I have always wanted to try this Shrimp Ramen, since I am a fan of Shrimp noodles soup, or Prawn noodles soup some locals like to call it.  So I ordered the Prawn Dumpling Shrimp Ramen 鲜虾水饺赤汤面 $14.90, which I believe has the delicious soup broth of the shrimps and saving the hassle of needing to deal with the shells of the shrimps and bones of the pork ribs. Doesn't look as nice as the picture in the menu right? Haha. From the name Prawn Dumpling Shrimp Ramen, it seems to me they are either confused by the Prawns vs Shrimps, or they are just out to confuse the diners.  Anw here is the difference between prawns and shrimps:  Source:  https://www.thespruceeats.com/difference-between-shrimp-and-prawns-2217280  Back to the ramen, so the ramen really has a so-so only taste.  I have high expectations for the shrimp and prawn ramen, being a prawn noodle soup fan, I thought a restaurant should have better tasting ramen soup then those in the hawker centre. Oh...

Comparison of Food Delivery Riders - Grab, Food Panda, Deliveroo - how do they differ?

Image
Ever want to be a food delivery rider? Wonder which company to join? Here are some differences between the 3:  Both seems about the same with Deliveroo having the cheapest for their mandatory riders' kit, and Grab, making sure that you have to earn at least $50 before you can cash out. Why choose Grab? - You are flexible to choose the time and date to work. It is totally up to you. For Food Panda, you have to book the sessions in advance, and you are rank according to your service levels and no. of orders you have completed.  Why Choose Food Panda? - Riders are split into batches 1-4, with batches 1 able to book the sessions first and also able to earn more. Many have said that batch 1 Food panda riders really earn much more than their counterparts from Grab, if you work really hard and meet the service levels. However, if you are a newbie, you join from batch 4 and work your way up. - Also, they offer free bike rental from SG Bikes, although I seldom see any Food Panda ...

Review: FARMHOUSE Dark Chocolate Low Fat Flavoured Milk from Australia

Image
This is a new product introduced in the market which costs $3.30 for one, and $5.95 for two in both Sheng Siong and NTUC Fairprice Supermarket.  As a huge fan of dark chocolate,  I went to bought one to try. How does it taste like? Well it is really not as sweet as the normal chocolate milk that you find in the Supermarket, it has a small tinge of dark chocolate kind of bitterness, although not overly strong. People who do not like sweet chocolate milk would like this, but I think that the chocolate is not strong enough. I myself wish there would be more chocolately taste, haha.  I think I would stick with my usual Meiji Chocolate Milk (although some might think it is too sweet, I think it has enough chocolatey taste haha).  Rating : 6/10 - Would I buy it again: No - Competitor: Meiji Chocolate Milk

O.BBa Jjajang Review

Image
So I was craving for some korean food and I chanced upon O.bba Jajajang located in Tanjong Pagar. There was quite a number of people on a Thursday 1pm. I took a queue number and waited outside with the rest of the people. When it was my turn, I went in with my friends, and was told that we are limited to 1 hour eating time due to the large number of people in the queue.  We weren't feeling hungry and because of the one hour eating time limit, we ordered a small portion of food. So here is what we ordered: This is the signature jajangmyeon Sundubu Jjigae - Spicy Soft Tofu Stew The usual korean Makkoli I am not a fan of Jajangmyeon  but this is the best Jajangmyeon I have eaten in Singapore. I was pleasantly suprised by how tasty it is. It has the right amount of sweetness and saltiness the noodle can have. No wonder there is a long queue of people waiting to get in.  On the other hand, the spicy Toufu Stew  Sundubu Jjigae was just ok, not super fantastic, j...

Ponggol Nasi Lemak Review

Image
So I went to Kovan last week, and one of the must-trys over there is the Ponggol Nasi Lemak. Not sure why they spell Punggol as Ponggol. Anyway, I tried the Set Menu 2 - which consists of Fried Chicken, Luncheon Meat, cucumber, ikan bilis and fried egg - $4.80 So what's so special? Well, rice has the pandan taste, fried egg is runny like those at the cai png stall, nothing special. Fried chicken is really like any other freshly fried chicken I ate at the hawker centre nasi lemak stall. The only special is the Luncheon Meat. It is awesomely special, and it is so nice I do not know how to describe it, and I have not tasted it anywhere else before.  The chili which is usually the star of the Nasi Lemak however is also not tasty and addictive like others I have tried.  What's so special about it? I think it's the luncheon meat and nothing else.
