Ah Poh Kitchen Review

Image
Looking for Zi Char place in the west?  One good choice is thisthe popular chinese restaurant selling zi char..  There's no GST and service charge.. and it's halal..  Tastes quite delicious.. and the price is decent..  It's located in a neighbourhood in Clementi (about 2 bus stops away from Clementi MRT) Here are some recommended dishes :) Curry Fish head ($18) Stir fried Kang Kong ($8) Sweet and Sour Fish ($8) Oat Prawns ($14) This restaurant gets crowded during festive seasons (Chinese New year, Hari Raya, Christmas etc.) so be sure to book a table if you intend to visit during these periods.  Have fun. :) Ah Poh Kitchen #01-223, 354 Clementi Avenue 2, 120354 Tel: 6774 5534

Nantsuttei Ramen - Orchard Central

Image
Nantsuttei.. after hearing reviews and recommendations from my friends.. and of course I have to check out this ramen place.  I ordered the 'Ramen' which came with a slice of cha shu and a thick layer of black garlic oil ($12).  Although it does taste better than many other ramen restaurants, I find that the thick layer of black garlic oil too thick. There's only one slice of cha shu and you have to top up another $4 for more. When I was there on a Monday evening for dinner, there was no queue and in fact, there are many empty tables. There were queues at other restaurants... hmm. Anyway, dont think I will be back.. cos there are nicer restaurants in Orchard Central, and there are nicer ramen restaurants out there. :P Nantsuttei # 07-12/13  Orchard Central 181 Orchard Rd, 238896 Rating 3.5/5

Taobao Shipping Agent : Which is the best?

Image
Want to buy from Taobao and ship to Singapore? Looking for shipping agent reviews? Here is a comparison of the shipping rates across some of the popular shipping agents of the every 500 grams. Be aware that the shipping agents also measure volumetric weight too, and charge you whichever higher . It seems like 65daigou is the most popular one in Singapore, but Skycart is cheaper if you are shipping heavy or bulky items. I haven't heard much about SG Shop but it is one of the first few shipping agents in Singapore. Happy Shopping! :)

Monster Curry Review (Jurong Point)

Image
Japanese curry always taste special.. not super spicy but tasty.  So here I visited the Monster curry branch in Jurong point.  They have other outlets, such as Ion Orchard, Nex and Vivocity.  Here's a glimpse of the menu: The waitress recommended Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry, Cheese Pork Katsu Curry and Big Fried Fish curry. There's also a range of spiciness to choose from: From 0 flame (No hot sauce) to 5 flame (Monster Hot) Heeding the waitress recommendations, we ordered the Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry and Big Fried Fish curry. Cheese Chicken Katsu Curry (2 Flame) Big Fried Fish Curry (3 Flame) Like its name, the plates were really monster huge when they arrived. The cheese chicken katsu curry turns out to be quite delicious. The 2 flame and 3 flame isn't spicy enough, so I requested for a small plate of chili. The big fried fish is crispy too, but as a cheese lover, the cheese on top of the Chicken Katsu makes the dish more delicious.

Top 5 Kopi below $2 in Tanjong Pagar

Image
There are so many stalls selling Kopi for those working in the CBD.  You name it... Old Tea Hut (just so so only.. I find their Gula Melaka too sweet), Huggs Coffee, Fun Toast.. etc. For those who do not want to buy atas coffee from Starbucks, here are some great cheap Kopi below $2 in Tanjong Pagar :D 1. Yummi Chiffon Tanjong Pagar Xchange (inside Tanjong Pagar MRT) Coffee from here is a favourite for many working around Tanjong Pagar. Be it Kopi or Teh, they always get it right If you get it in the morning, you can write KST for Kopi Siew Tai on the cover, or TST (not Tsim Sha Tsui) for Teh Siew Tai. You can buy their chiffon cakes too.. they are really good. :) 2. Coffee Break #02-78, Amoy Street Food Centre, 7 Maxwell Road, 069111 Run by two local graduates, they continued their grandparent's coffee business at this hawker centre. Kopi or Teh tastes great! Many are proud that young Singaporeans continue to serve such nice kopi and continue the tradition in Singap

Review: Zaffron Kitchen @ Westgate

Image
This is my second visit to Zaffron kitchen, because the food tasted good and I wanted to introduce it to my friend. We ate the Tandoori chicken, Butter Naan, Plain Naan, Garlic Naan, and Fish curry.  They are of course delicious. Fish curry is tasty, a perfect go together with the Naan. The fish has no bones and was soft and full of flavour. The Tandoori chicken is soft juicy. The butter Naan as well as the Garlic Naan ($5 per set) was also a must try. Plain Naan taste good too, with the curry. Overall, the food is quite good, possibly the best indian food I have ever eaten in a restaurant. It is just that I wish that the waiter would refill the glasses of water more frequently instead of standing around, waiting to deliver food to the tables. Food: 8.5/10 Service: 4/10 Overall: 7/10 Will I visit the restaurant again? Yes because the food is really good. :)

Bangkok Jam @ Plaza Singapura

Image
There are two kinds of pad thai - the brown ones and the orange ones. In Bangkok Jam, the Pad thai are the orange ones. Most pad thai I've eaten in Singapore are the brown ones, but the thing is that the pad thai here, unlike the ones that I have eaten in Thai express was not spicy enough, neither was it delicious or full of flavour. It was just so-so. Didnt have craving for more. Service was also not fantastic, just ok. Will I go back there again? Only if other restaurants are full. Rating: 2.5/5

Clothes Blog Shops and Websites Review

There are too many blog shops out there. Some are good, while many are scams so beware. I have decided to do reviews of the blogshops and websites which I have tried and are good (1) Dressabelle This website has a wide range of blouses, dresses and accessories. New arrivals are introduced twice weekly, which means you get to choose new clothes weekly :) Delivery is free for postage in Singapore and it takes about 1 week.  Tips:  - Watch out for their sales. Dresses can drop below $30! - Sign up for an account,  visit their website daily and get their 'balloons' which can be exchanged for a discount voucher (2) Qoo10 This is not really a website for clothes, but an online retailer where you can find lots of items from fashion to IT gadgets. Nevertheless, there are clothes that are affordable and good. However, depending on the delivery option you choose, it can take up to 2 weeks.  Tips: - Look for items listed in the Time Sales/Daily Deal/Group Buy Tab. M

Menya Muashi Ramen Review (Raffles City Branch)

Image
Went to the Menya Muashi at Raffles City Level 1 after hearing how good it was, from my friend. There are 3 types of Ramen as well - the white (original),  black (Black garlic oil) or Red (spicy) Or you can order the Tsukemen, which is the dry kind of ramen not commonly found in other Ramen restaurants in Singapore. I tried their Spicy Cha Shu Ramen 2pcs ($11.90++). It was quite delicious, not too spicy. Cha Shu was soft, soup was full of flavour. Free Hojicha which was quite tasty, quite apt drink for an evening dinner. The tea was refilled regularly, service was good too. One not so good thing was however, that after the dinner, I went home feeling quite thirsty the whole night. They must have added quite a lot of MSG. Will I go back again? Maybe to try the Tsukemen :P Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Address: #01-16, Raffles City Shopping Centre Tel: 6336 6500
